Lady Timberwolves State D2 Volleyball Champions

The Lady Timberwolves entered the state volleyball tournament as the #3 seed.  However, with a pre-season ranking of 1st, the Timberwolves did not disappoint as they captured the D2 title - their 5th overall title and 2nd in the past 3 years.

First round foe, Mead, was a rematch from sub-districts. The Raiders had a different outcome on their mind as they stretched the Timberwolves to 5 sets.  E-M took the win with scores of 25-17, 27-29, 25-14, 21-25, 15-9.

Next up for the Timberwolves was the tall, athletic team from Hyannis, the 2nd ranked team.  Strong serving helped the Timberwolves advance to the finals with a 4 set win (19-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-15).

The finals match pitted the Timberwolves vs the #1 ranked team, the Ewing Tigers.  Coming into the match with only 2 losses, Ewing would pose a tough test for the Timberwolves.  Each set found the Timberwolves trailing the Tigers, but in the end, the Timberwolves captured the D2 title with a 3-set sweep (25-19, 25-20, 28-26). This was the 2nd title in 3 years and the 5th overall for the Timberwolves.

Seniors Hannah Beethe and Tara Mueller have played in the state tournament each year of their high school career and have finished each of those seasons with a win (2014-3rd, 2015-1st, 2016-3rd, 2017-1st).

Congratulations Ladies and job well done!  Way to #leaveyourmark!
